Getting ready to take our puppy for her first day of swimming, my husband and I were having the conversation of “be gentle in leading her into the water, don’t let her become scared of the water” … “let Tommy (her older Golden brother) show her the ropes” … “don’t let her go too far ahead of us.” Barely did we have those few instructions to one another out of our mouths, then Piper, in all her glorious play, forged and lunged ahead past us into the Greenbrier River to immediately swim and dog paddle. She, in her right mind, apparently felt her parents were quite over-protective and grew tired of the senseless talk going on around her.
This picture conveys her absolute and immediate fondness for the water and her resilient spirit not listen to small-talk but rather to “dive right in!” —Jerry and Melissa Cole, Winfield, West Virginia
