Funnywoman Margaret Cho has a serious side when it comes to dogs. This stand-up comedian, writer and actor is not only a political and social activist, but also speaks out for shelter and rescue dogs. And she walks her talk: Cho’s three pups—Ralph, Bronwyn and Gudrun—are mixed breeds she and her husband adopted from LA shelters (the dogs can sometimes be seen flitting through the background of her new reality series, The Cho Show, on VH 1). As she observed in a recent blog posting on the effect of the foreclosure crisis on companion animals, “Financial hardship is overwhelming, but when we lose our love for our animals, we lose our humanity, which to me is a million times worse than losing our homes.” A sentiment that neatly captures her passion, dedication and commitment, and one that we wholeheartedly endorse. We caught up with her backstage before a northern California “Beautiful” tour performance, and she gave us the inside scoop on a dog’s life in the Cho household.
