Companion Legend
Stand By Your Man

A Bindibu legend from Australia:
The earth split in two shortly after creation, leaving Man on one side, and all the animals on the other.

None of the other animals seemed to mind this new arrangements except for the dog.

He ran up and down, whimpering, anxiously trying to find a way across the divide. The dog finally leapt over, caught the edge of the opposite side and started to slip down into the abyss.

But Man pulled the dog to safety, proclaiming, “You shall be my companion forever.”

Paris Poop Zones
Merde!

Parisians are free to frolic on the grass in their parks now (previously this was a big no-no) but because the citizens can’t bring themselves to pick up after their dogs, French authorities still nix dogs on grass. The director of parks, justifying this policy, exclaimed that the “French just don’t do their dogs’ doo!”

As for doing it on the streets of Paris, even though they risk fines up to $490, peoples des chiens are mostly ignoring the poop-zones—jeez, they aren’t even asked to pick it up! So the city is waging an all-out campaign, with 15 counselors assigned to educate the estimated 200,000 dog owners to use designated gutter areas, that along with 75 elegant “motorcrottes” equipped with poop-powerful vacuums, cost the City of Lights $16 million a year on clean up alone. The poop is estimated to weigh in at sixteen tons per day! Maybe a couturiere could come up with a fashion-statement poche-de-merde, and the problem would be solved.

Rent a Friend
Rent A Friend

Tokyo’s Perro Moco Petshop hit upon something special when they started a dog rental service, quickly becoming a hit with young Japanese couples. The dogs are just the thing to ease the awkwardness of courtship and first date butterflies. Kobayashi, the store’s owner, has at least one customer-couple whose dog dates have led to marriage vows. Who said three’s a crowd!
