My Sparky

My heart is broken, where did you go?
You were in my arms just one week ago
Then suddenly nothing but darkness and pain
I knew we’d come to the end of your days
How would I manage to let you go?
Cut the tie that bound you and release your soul?
I’d learn to live with just memories
Through pain so deep I cannot breathe
Soar to the Heavens my beautiful friend
I choose to believe I’ll see you again
I know people say you were “just a dog”
They’re too blind to see they were looking at God.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I too lost my 13 year old Black Lab, Jade in February of 2010. I had no idea that I would become so attached to a dog, and so devistated when I lost my Jade. I completely understand what your poem meant by "some people say your just a dog". Those that have never had the pleasure of having a dog, will truely never understand. Your poem was beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Judy St.Ores

very nice poem, my BFF lost her beagle last year, we cried together for two weeks straight. She wrote a poem/song much like this one.
