It’s National Safety Month

What’s the best pet safety advice you ever needed?

In honor of National Safety Month, the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) has compiled some ideas for keeping dogs safe. Their tips include basic first aid information, as well as tips for keeping your dog safe at the pool, outdoors including around wildlife, when traveling, during holidays, such as Christmas and the Fourth of July, and in a variety of other situations. The association emphasizes that trained dogs are easier to keep safe than those without such skills.

If your dog eats too much chocolate than you have to make the dog throw up. A tablespoon of Hydrogen Poroxide will make your dog throw up.

The best advice I ever received in regards to pet safety may seem like common sense. At the time when I first became a guardian for a "flat faced" breed I was a young teenager. My vet explained to me that this type of dog is easily affected by heat and that it is important to monitor outdoor activities. If my vet did not tell me this, I probably would never have known and could have been placing my baby in harms way! My vet also explained some of the best ways to cool off a dog such as placing cold water on a dogs paws, legs, and under the arms.
I am forever grateful!!

Thanks,that is good advice for my dog. He is a husky so he doesn't deal with the heat so well.
