Dog Duct Taped and Abandoned
Sadly, this isn’t an isolated abuse case.
Daisy, a 4-year-old Beagle, survived being duct taped and left for dead.

When my cat went missing for 12 hours a couple weeks ago, I thought I had imagined every possible worse-case scenario. But what happened to Daisy the Beagle never would’ve occurred to me. She had been missing from her upstate New York home for two weeks when a hunter located her on his property, shoved inside a plastic bag and duct taped so only her nostrils were exposed. She was in really bad shape, but miraculously was reunited with her family and is on the road to recovery. As I researched Daisys story, I found five more cases of animals being duct taped and thrown away in garbage bins. Incredibly, they all survived, too, but in every instance except one, the perpetrator has yet to be caught. The New York State Humane Society is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the capture of Daisy’s abuser and the Humane Society of the United States pledged $2,500 to assist the family with her medical costs. If you’d like to help find who did this to Daisy or defray some of her vet care, donations may be sent to the New York State Humane Society, PO Box 3068, Kingston, N.Y. 12402 or call (845) 336-4514.

What is wrong with people that would do something like this? We need to increase punishment for people that commit animal cruelty.

I will never understand what drives people to do cruel things like this. I'm glad Daisy is okay, but it pains me to think there are many others who are never found.

The cruelty of this story absolutely staggers me. Seeing the photo was like a punch in the stomach. Amazing that she survived and I hope is able to be happily reunited with her family. Thank you for the address. I will be sending a donation.

I guarantee no dog would have ever committed an act as hideous as this...And people have the gall to question whether dogs have souls. I doubt the "person" who did this has one. I hope those responsible suffer in every way possible.

This is so very sad. But kind of ironic, that a hunter was the one to find her and save her life. After spending a day in the woods looking for an animal to kill, he saves the life of one. We humans are strange in the way that we relate to animals. We consider dogs and cats to be friends and family, but we slaughter and eat farm animals, and hunt wildlife for sport or food. We often turn a blind eye - or just remain indifferent- to the violence and cruelty that occurs to non-companion animals because it would inconvenience our way of life if we chose to acknowledge how much they suffer. It will be hard to rid our culture of abuse and cruelty until we respect life in all forms.

I feel like I have just been punched in gut. I cannot believe how cruel humans can be. I cannot even imagine the trama Daisy endured along with the others not found. I hope whomever did this act of horrific cruelty will have the same fate as the other dogs. Left for dead! Only not to be found. Suffering in a state of panic and hopelessness. UGH! what a complete JERK!

Poor little Daisy.. Bless her heart. Give me a shot at this horrible piece of garbage that did this to a poor little furball like her, you cannot even imagine the massive pain I would bestow on this monster. As well as any other evil decrepit heartless mess that would hurt a little animal. Makes me pray that he gets in a wreck with a tree and ends up suffering day after day and no one is around to rescue him. He deserves to suffer a long painful experience than the rest of his life behind bars never to see the light of day.

This is simply appalling. It just makes me sick. Things like this just reinforce my opinion that humans are evil.
